Telehealth at Inner Heart Therapy

All services at Inner Heart Therapy are provided via telehealth. This page explains how telehealth works, its limitations, and what you agree to when you choose online therapy.

A full informed consent document is part of your intake paperwork. This page provides a plain-language overview.

What Telehealth Means

Telehealth therapy happens over a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform. You connect with your therapist from wherever you are, as long as you are physically located in a state where Inner Heart Therapy is licensed to provide services.

Inner Heart Therapy is currently licensed in Idaho, Utah, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, South Carolina, and Florida.

Benefits and Limitations

Telehealth removes many barriers to care: no commute, flexible scheduling, and access to a specialist regardless of where you live.

There are also limitations worth knowing:

  • Technology fails sometimes. If a session is interrupted, your therapist will contact you by phone to reconnect or reschedule.

  • Nonverbal cues are harder to read over video than in person.

  • Telehealth does not fit every situation. If your needs go beyond what telehealth addresses safely, your therapist will discuss alternatives.

Privacy and Security

Your sessions take place on a HIPAA-compliant platform. You are responsible for attending sessions in a private location where others cannot overhear. Your therapist holds sessions from a private space as well.

Do not attend sessions while driving, in public spaces, or anywhere you cannot speak freely.

Emergency Situations

Telehealth does not include crisis services. If you are experiencing a mental health emergency, contact:

  • 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline: Call or text 988

  • Crisis Text Line: Text HOME to 741741

  • 911 or your nearest emergency room

Your therapist will discuss a safety plan and local emergency resources with you during your intake session.
