How Sessions Work

Every new client starts with a free 15-minute consultation before any paperwork or scheduling. This conversation gives them a chance to ask questions and gives me a chance to confirm fit. From there, sessions run on a regular telehealth schedule suited to the client.

Referrals and Availability

Is Inner Heart Therapy accepting new referrals?

Yes, new referrals are welcome. Every new client starts with a free 15-minute consultation before any paperwork, giving both the client and me a chance to confirm the fit before scheduling a first full session. The most direct path is having the client book the consultation on the website, though a direct message from you first works well too if you want to talk through a case before making the referral.

What are your primary areas of focus?

Anxiety is the through-line of the practice, showing up as generalized anxiety, social anxiety, panic, perfectionism, people-pleasing, and burnout. Nervous system dysregulation and boundary-setting come up often alongside anxiety, and LGBTQ+-affirming care, including identity exploration, coming out, minority stress, and religious deconstruction, is a core focus as well. A client who wants an active, skills-based approach paired with nervous system regulation tends to be a strong fit.

Is there a wait to be seen?

Wait times shift with the season and current caseload. The free 15-minute consultation is the fastest way to find out the current timeline for a specific client.

Licensing, Insurance, and Format

What states are you licensed in?

Idaho (LCPC #7150), Utah (CMHC #6004), Colorado (LPC #0018672), and Connecticut (LPC #8118), plus Florida (TPMC #1034). Delaware and South Carolina are covered through telehealth registration rather than a full license, so referrals from those two states are welcome as well.

Do you accept insurance?

Yes. Inner Heart Therapy is in-network with select carriers across the licensed states, billed through Alma and Headway. Coverage varies by state and plan, so the best way to confirm a specific client's insurance is in-network is to check during the free consultation or reach out directly. Private pay clients receive a superbill after each session, ready to submit to their insurance carrier for out-of-network reimbursement.

Is this telehealth only?

Yes. Every session runs by telehealth through a secure video platform, so a client attends from home, a private office, or anywhere else with a stable connection and privacy. Location within a licensed state matters far more than proximity to Post Falls, which makes referrals easier across rural areas and after a client relocates within a covered state.

Clinical Approach and Coordination

Do you work with LGBTQ+ clients?

Yes. LGBTQ+-affirming care is central to the practice, including identity exploration, coming out, minority stress, and religious deconstruction for clients managing a shift away from a faith background. Referrals for clients working through family or community strain related to identity are welcome too.

What's your clinical approach?

Sessions draw from polyvagal-informed and person-centered therapy, cognitive work on thinking patterns, HeartMath breathwork, and solution-focused techniques, with the nervous system as the throughline connecting the approaches. The goal centers on building tools a client uses between sessions, alongside insight.

Will you coordinate care with me about a shared client?

With a signed release of information on file, coordinating care is standard practice: a periodic update, a conversation about a treatment plan, or a heads up if something shifts clinically. Reach out any time once the release is signed, and coordination happens directly rather than through the client as a go-between.

What happens if a shared client needs a higher level of care or is in crisis?

Telehealth sessions are not equipped to replace emergency care, so a client in crisis is directed to call 911, go to the nearest emergency room, or contact 988. The next scheduled session after an emergency includes a check-in on what happened and whether a higher level of care makes sense going forward. Reach out directly any time you want to coordinate on next steps for a shared client.

How to Refer a Client

If you have a client who might be a fit, let them know they are welcome to reach out to me directly. Have them call 509-903-6024 or email taylor@innerhearttherapy.org to schedule their free 15-minute consultation, no forms or client information required from you. A quick heads up is welcome if you want to send one, though not necessary.
